Each IN/EX track contains a rich amount of detail that can’t be replicated or precisely notated. On the surface each gesture has a trajectory and shape coloured by a universe of minutia. In my interpretation of track ‘fifteen’, I tried to capture the small sounds that emerge from the tension between the trumpet and Dan. I had my computer do most of the work for me, by analysing the infinitesimal sonic details and separating them by their noisiness. I then reconstructed them with utility radio signals in an attempt to capture the salient aspects that emerge from Dan’s restriction of using a single breath to both compose and perform. This track shows my appreciation and admiration for a fantastic album.
