about

Lindsay Vickery
wellington forest [2017] for bass clarinet, electric guitar, harp and field recording.

The score for Wellington Forest is based on an annotated spectrogram of a field recording made in the Ferguson Valley region of Western Australia. Originally invisaged as a percussion trio, the work was adapted for GreyWing by employing preparations on the harp strings and extended techniques on the electric guitar. Although the recording remains temporally unaltered, a number of filters are used to highlight the pitched material in the recording and to accentuate some of the shifts in the sonic environment in order to create structural points in the work.
